HOW TO GET HERE
Podere Violino is located in the countryside of the Upper Tiber Valley, an area of great interest in many aspects that are revealed from its geographical location straddled between Tuscany, Marche, Umbria and Emilia Romagna. As all borderlands nowadays, it is a remarkable meeting point between cultures.
A very famous description of the valley was written between 1st and 2nd centuries A.D. by Pliny the Younger (61-113) in a letter to his friend Apollinare.
Pliny had his own favourite village in the Tiber Valley and thus describes the landscape
The appearance of the country is beautiful: imagine an immense amphitheatre which only the nature can create. [...] Although there is plenty of water, there are no swamps because the land slopes and does not absorb it [...]; the ground rises so sweetly and with an almost imperceptible slope, which, though it seems to you that you’ve hardly begun you’re already climbed to the top. The Apennines lie behind it [...]. I know now why I prefer my village “in Tuscis” to that of Tuscolo, Tivoli and Preneste”
